GOAL: investigate how the absence of dynamic surface properties affect lateral passability judgments when carrying virtual handheld objects in the presence or absence of gender matched body-scaled self-avatars.

Description: We designed an immersive virtual experience in which participants interacted with virtual bars of different sizes in the presence or absence of self-avatars, and judged if they could pass through different sized openings laterally. We also explored the role of calibration with the help of visual and auditory information as participants tried to walk through door openings in a sideways fashion in the virtual environment.
